Santa Candida, the patron saint of the island of Ventotene, is celebrated on September 20, the last of 10 days of events between the sacred and the profane. The events end up after the traditional street and water games on September 19 and the hot-air paper balloons competition, in which various "schools" comparing the size, shape and the decorations on the technique of throwing hot-air balloon.

On September 20, after the fireworks starting at 6.30 am, the Band of the town, from 7 AM goes driftin’ inside the island, visiting gardens, guest houses, hotels and restaurants, where owners and landlords distributed to the players and followers great breakfasts with traditional pastry, coffees, cappuccinos, etc.
At 17 PM starts the procession of the Santa Candida's boat, according to the tradition which tells about the saint body was found on the banks of Pozzillo harbour. At the end of the procession there’s the last flight of the hot-hair balloon in the night followed by spectacular fireworks over the sea.

The following is the sketching report drawn live over three days on the Island. The rock that I love.
